How do I know if my baby is dressed right?
Check the chest or the back of the neck, not the hands. Warm but not sweaty is just right. Hands and feet often feel cool even when a baby is comfortable. A sweaty neck, flushed cheeks or a hot tummy usually mean one layer too many.
Should my baby wear one more layer than me?
In the cold, yes. The NHS and the American Academy of Pediatrics both suggest one more layer than an adult would wear. In hot weather the NHS suggests a single lightweight cotton layer.
What should my baby wear to sleep?
A bodysuit and a sleep sack with the TOG matched to the room, and nothing on the head. No loose blankets, and never a hat for sleep. The TOG chart on this site shows the whole table, room by room.
